Final Leg of Renovations,
thanks to $5000 CCCU grant!
The Neighbourhood House will be building a healthier community, thanks to a generous grant from Coastal Community Credit Union! The $5000 grant is allocated to kitchen renovations to meet health standards, allowing us to hold free cooking classes for youth and adults, to hold community dinners, and to serve free daily soup & bun during the Fall and Winter months.
“This grant allows us to finally finish our renovations at the new Neighbourhood House location,” said Maureen Vesey, President of CNHA.
“A grant of that amount also frees volunteers from the burden of raising extra funds to renovate, while delivering services at the same time” added Arlene Robinson, Chair of the Steering Committee. “A $5000 grant is the equivalent of 10 fundraisers, and allows us to focus on raising funds for family & youth programming.”
The grant from the CCCU’s is part of the Building Healthier Communities Fund, which provides one time seed money to Island Communities.
