Tenant Rights & Responsibilities

“Rent Smart”, by Cowichan Housing Association, is a free 6 week training course that looks great on any application to Landlords and even potential Employers. This course is viewed by some landlords as being like a Letter of Reference.

Learn tenant rights and responsibilities, and very useful skills, such as how to resolve disputes with a landlord. Successful students will also receive a certificate that they can show potential landlords (full attendance is required).

We can provide some assistance, such bus fare and ferry tickets. Refreshments are also provided.

*Pre-registration and full attendance is required.

When: Wed evenings 6:00 to 8:00, starting Feb 24 (6 weeks in total)

Where: 9806 Willow St., Chemainus, BC (Cowichan Neighbourhood House)

Registration: Drop by the office between 1 and 5pm or email cnhaoffice(at) with your name, contact info, and what course you are interested in registering. There will be a registration form and a follow up confirmation. Please let us know if you need bus/ferry tickets.

More Info: The workshops is part of the Ready to Rent  program. There is also a short CBC Radio interview (mp3) explaining the program.
