Chemainus Shoreline Clean Up

The Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup takes place September and is an international effort to help the environment and keep shorelines free of debris. We are doing it at low tide a couple days earlier than the other Shoreline cleanups (Sept 15th vs Sept 17 to 25). Kin Beach is at the end of Maple Street (see Google Maps) in Chemainus.
This will be our 5th year that the Neighbourhood House coordinates the local Shoreline Clean Up for the Chemainus area. This is a great opportunity for youth and families to get involvement in the community and do something for the environment. The Chemainus event is one of several to take place in the valley, but last year we were delighted to have people from as far away as Nanaimo help us out.
Hot chocolate and coffee will also be served! Bags and latex gloves will be provided on site. Bring thicker gloves and a trash grabber (if possible). Volunteers should dress according to the weather. Great family activity, with everyone welcome.
If you miss this opportunity, then we also organize a similar event on Earth Days every year.
